comunicato stampa

All the planning for the zehnte art KARLSRUHE is complete, the art fair’s layout incorporating the stands and sculpture zones of 220 participating galleries from 13 countries is fixed: under the motto of “With passion for art,” from 7 to 10 March the event will be presenting painting and sculpture, high-quality works, and affordable limited-editions of classic modern through to contemporary art.
On the home straight to the tenth art KARLSRUHE +

Roughly 200 one-artist shows and 21 sculpture zones invite some 48,000 anticipated visitors to get an overview of the latest developments in the art world. Young artists are represented by galleries such as ART-isotope (Dortmund), the janinebeangallery (Berlin), and 3 PUNTS GALERIA (Barcelona) in the dm arena. The gallery Rigassi (Bern) is displaying works from artists such as Tilmann Krieg and Arnulf Rainer, Scheffel (Bad Homburg) is bringing along Magdalena Abakanowicz, Jaume Plensa, Max Uhlig, and Bernar Venet, and Michael Schultz (Berlin, Seoul, Beijing) is presenting works by Stephan Kaluza. With such an extensive range and a rich variety of artworks, the numerous invited collectors and art experts will without doubt get their money’s worth again in 2013.

art KARLSRUHE serves as a trading platform, information exchange, and a place for art-industry talks all at the same time, and so art-fair director Britta Wirtz and curator Ewald Karl Schrade put great store in the supporting programme as well. The special exhibition featuring photographs from the collection of the Luxembourger collector Dr. Marita Ruiter puts the spotlight on legendary portrait and news-reporting photographs by the photo-icon Gisèle Freund. Appearing exclusively for the tenth art fair is the special edition “Love, faith, hope” by Stefan Strumbel, the present shooting-star of the young art scene in Germany. His huge installations in the exhibition halls and the entrance foyer are going to be among the characteristic features of art KARLSRUHE 2013. Other highlights of the event are two award ceremonies: the Hans-Platschek Prize for Art and Writing on 7 March and the selection of the best stand for the Baden-Württemberg art KARLSRUHE Prize on 8 March. The annual ARTIMA art meeting promises to provide revealing insights into what’s going on in the art market: a résumé of the art fair as such and issues concerning the current state of the art market form the focus of this year’s discussion forum on 7 and 8 March.
