BB6 - The Bucharest-Vienna Axis

Der Standard Kulturtalk. Bucharest Biennale 2014. Talk in English. Content of the talk will be the Bucharest Biennale 2014, which is curated by Nicolaus Schafhausen. Governing motif of the 6th Bucharest Biennale will be displayed in the concept-couple of Belonging & Longing. It will focus on topics related to the imperfect/open nature of (national) identities and the inverse forces of desire for identity and individualism. For the first time a direct connection is made between the Romanian Biennale - which has been taking place since 2005 - and the Kunsthalle Wien. This connection is manifested by concurrent associated programs and exhibitions at the Kunsthalle Wien. The exhibition "The Brancusi Effect", for instance will focus on the work of the Romanian sculptor and his influence on art up to the present day. Participants: Razvan Ion (Bucharest Biennale), Gabriel Kohn (Romanian Cultural Institut Vienna), Eugen Radescu (Bucharest Biennale), Georg Schollhammer (Springerin), Nicolaus Schafhausen (Kunsthalle Wien) and Vita Zaman (Viennafair).
