The four films presented in this program are parts of a larger-scale film project that is designed as a series of conceptually independent works documenting the artist’s focus of interest in each of the respective years of origin.

Malcolm McLaren’s final film is a collage of ideal images of Paris. Using French film clips and commercials from the past one hundred years, McLaren examines the intersections of art and commodity. The result is a beautiful visual poem.
The screening is followed by a Q&A with Young Kim, partner of Malcolm McLaren and head of the Estate of Malcolm McLaren, and Marc Glöde.

Isa Genzken, 'Die Kleine Bushaltestelle (Gerüstbau)'

Isa Genzken, assisted by her friend, German artist Kai Althoff, shot this work in an impromptu style, using a home video camera. The film is an absurdist comedy in which Genzken and Althoff enact a string of odd-couple scenarios.

This single-channel video about the lives of transsexuals in Algiers and Bombay questions the possibility of objective testimony. At the same time, it challenges the structural coherence we associate with artistic narrative.
Short Film program, 'Still/Moving'
Running Time 67'; curated by Marc Glöde.
This program brings together works that look at already existing footage – ‘still’ as well as ‘moving’ images. By re-focusing on these images, the films create a deeper understanding and new perspective on historic material.
