A series of experimental art sites located along a stretch of desert communities including Pioneer town, Yucca Valley, Joshua tree and 29 Palms. These locations provide alternative, free space for experimental, work by both emerging and established artists.
The High Desert Test Sites are a series of experimental art sites located
along a stretch of desert communities including Pioneer town, Yucca
Valley, Joshua tree and 29 Palms. These locations provide alternative,
free space for experimental, work by both emerging and established
artists.
The HDTS mission is to challenge conventions such as ownership, property
and patronage. It focuses is the question of what art can be as opposed
to what everyone else has made it so far. HDTS projects are spread out
over 60 miles of rugged desert terrain, some viewers may find themselves
pulled off the beaten track, but nearly everyone makes it to the bar.
High Desert Test Sites is a project organized by Andrea Zittel, Lisa Anne
Auerbach, Shaun Caley-Regen, John Connelly and Andy Stillpass.
