Installation by artist WANG RUO BING
Can anyone believe it is possible to lay down such a barrage of poisons on
the surface of the earth without making it unfit for all life? - Rachel
Carson, Silent Spring
In this fast-paced city with its escalating human population, seldom is
there a space to rest and reflect upon our relationship with nature. The
artist would like visitors to be reinvigorated by a sense of environmental
awareness.
This installation will convey this message through vision, touch and sound.
Soil and leaves will blanket the gallery floor, while the gallery will be
transformed into a manufactured forest. Video images will be shown amidst
the artificial foliage, evoking the lushness of nature and how it is
gradually destroyed. Sounds of nature will haunt the space, reminiscent of
what we should but do not often hear within our natural environment.
