"FADE AWAY" with PHILIPPE PARRENO
"FADE AWAY" - is the title under which Philippe Parreno (Paris)
presents both new and old works as part of his ongoing series "Fade
to Black", which includes major works from 2003. For this series he
has staged smallish events and situations in mundane contexts in
different parts of the world, inviting various people as well as
groups to participate. Each event and situation is documented by a
large poster, which like a flickering memory recalls them.
Opening: 16 January, 7 pm
Exhibition dates: 17 January - 29 February 2004
Saturday 17 January, 3 pm: Artist talk with Philippe Parreno and
Rirkrit Tiravanija about the exhibition 'FADE AWAY'.

"GETTING THINGS DONE WHEN YOU'RE NOT IN CHARGE" by CAREY YOUNG
Project dates: 16 January 2004 - while stocks last
As part of her series of virus-like interventions into the marketing
and communications structure of the Kunstverein, two new commissions
by Carey Young (London) combine specific 'pro-revolution' references
within a system of marketing display and distribution. 'THE
REVOLUTION IS US!' is a digital video animation which will be
screened on infoscreens - the video advertising display screens which
are located amidst the printed advertising hoardings on the platforms
of the Munich subway system. The video animation will also be shown
in the window display of Kunstverein München.
In the subway the animation will be screened between regular
advertisements on the platforms of the following stations:
Hauptbahnhof (main station) U1/U2, U4/U5; Sendlinger Tor U3/U6, U1/
U2; Marienplatz U3/U6; Odeonsplatz U3/U6; Universität U3/U6;
Giselastraße U3/U6; Münchner Freiheit U3/U6; Hohenzollernplatz U2/U8;
Rotkreuzplatz U1/U7.
'GETTING THINGS DONE WHEN YOU'RE NOT IN CHARGE' is a large series of
multiples, which will be available from the Kunstverein, and given
away for free. These works inhabit the form of the supposedly
'useful' marketing gifts which companies often give away as an 'aide
memoire' for their brand.
Opening: 16 January, 7 pm
