The art and theatre project generates a unique creative space for young people to design and implement visions for a better world, together with artists and theatre makers.
pottfiction is a cross-city youth theatre project in the cultural metropolis Ruhr that was first realized in the context of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010. The art and theatre project generates a unique creative space for young people to design and implement visions for a better world, together with artists and theatre makers. To this purpose, six independent and municipal theatres from the Ruhr area – Consol Theater Gelsenkirchen, HELIOS Theater Hamm, KJT Dortmund, Junges Schauspiel Bochum, Schauspiel Essen, Theater Kohlenpott Herne – have joined forces. pottfiction offers young people a continuous platform for deciding and testing the type of world in which they want to live.
In a series of workshops the young participants together with artists and drama educators will examine issues and definitions that are important to them and their vision of the future. The workshops form a bridge between art and cultural education and result in a public presentation each. The series will end with a final camp in Dortmund in August 2014, when the youngsters will pass on their concepts to new participants.
pottfiction is sponsored by the Ministry for Family, Children, Youth, Culture and Sports of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
