comunicato stampa

The Affordable Art Fair returns to The Tunnel this week for our fall 2014 edition! We’re looking forward to an exciting fair with 50 local and international galleries, an engaging programming schedule of events and of course, captivating contemporary art.

Our concept is simple, yet unique: an inspiring and friendly atmosphere in which you can find thousands of original paintings, prints, sculptures and photographs all under one roof, ranging from $100-$10,000, with more than half priced under $5,000. The work of young, emerging artists hangs alongside some of the biggest household names, while our Recent Graduates Exhibition provides a chance to snap up work by a future art world star.

Features

In addition to a plethora of original, contemporary art for purchase, the fair offers several fabulous features to make your visit even more enjoyable!

Recent Graduates Exhibition

For each edition, we have a specially curated section of Recent Graduates work (BFA or MFA graduating within 3 years). For the fall 2014 edition, we are thrilled to welcome back Gabriel de Guzman, Curator of Visual Arts at Wave Hill, as the curator of this feature. Site-specificity is the theme of this fall’s Recent Graduates Exhibition titled, Tunnel Vision. Using materials such as plywood, metal, toy train tracks, a boom box, neon light tubing, and record album covers, these artists present sculpture that evoke the Tunnel’s unique space and fascinating history. Don’t forget to look up when you enter the fair, they will be hanging from the ceiling!

Limited Edition Print by Artist, Mitch McGee (represented by Elisa Contemporary Art)

You will not want to miss this beautiful artwork created specifically for our fair guests. Mitch customized this print with our stationary pink color and produced 15 editions in honor of Affordable Art Fair’s 15th Anniversary globally. These exclusive prints are the perfect, customary kick-start or addition to any collection! They will be available for purchase at the fair.
