Award Ceremony & Panel Discussion
This year, the Centre for International Light Art organizes the first edition of the International Light Awards. Goal of this artistic competition is to support and promote light artists and the genre of light art as such. Museum directors, curators, artists, academics, and collectors from all over the world formed a Recommendation Committee; each of them suggested two possible nominees. This way, a high quality level is guaranteed. The nominees were asked to hand in a concept, and to have their proposals being judged by the award's renowned international jury. With the start of the UNESCO 'International Year of Light 2015', the three winners (1st until 3rd place) of the INTERNATIONAL LIGHT ART AWARD will be known, and present their works in the accompanying exhibition at the Centre for International Light Art Unna. In January 2015, the ILAA will be festively awarded during a ceremony in Berlin. The winner receives a cash prize of 10.000. The artists in the first, second and third place will receive financial support in order to realize their works of art.
