This first institutional solo exhibition in Europe devoted to the Colombian artist José Antonio Suárez Londoño is a retrospective of his work since the 1970s. The title is not only a reference to the nature of the show, which features pieces of varying media and formats, but to the nature of the work itself, as the avid compiler and classifier that Suárez Londoño is. The exhibition will reflect the headlong rush and idea of continuity that underpins Suárez Londoño's work—a relentless method of creating as an exceptional and moving practice in his unremitting stillness.
His work has been shown at 57th Venice Biennial (2013), The Drawing Center New York (2012) and is included in MoMA collection and Patricia Phelps de Cisneros private collection, among others. Samples is a commission by La Casa Encendida in the context of ARCOColombia, in collaboration with MAMM, Medellín; and it will travel to CAPC, Bordeaux.
