sintesi del comunicato stampa

Leviathan is a modern day retelling of the Biblical story of Job set in contemporary Russia. Kolia lives in a small, northern Russian town near the Barents Sea. He has his own auto-repair shop, which stands right next to the house where he lives with his young wife Lilya and his son from a previous marriage. Vadim Sergeyich, the corrupt mayor of the town, wants to take away Kolia's business, his house and his land. First the mayor tries buying him off but Kolia isn't interested in money, he doesn't want to lose everything he has: not only is his livelihood at stake, but also the beauty that has surrounded him from the day of his birth. As Sergeyich starts becoming more aggressive, Kolia asks his best friend Dmitri, a lawyer from Moscow, to help him, unaware that this simple act will change his life forever. Leviathan, dir. Andrei Zvyagintsev, Russia 2014, 140 mins. 3:45 pm
