sintesi del comunicato stampa

Canadian auteur Xavier Dolan (I Killed My Mother, Tom at the Farm) won the Jury Prize at Cannes 2014 with this powerful new drama, which he completed at the age of 25. The Mommy in question is Die (Anne Dorval), a riotously feisty widow whose teenage son Steve (Antoine-Olivier Pilon) has extreme ADHD. Steve's condition pushes him so far out of control that Die is obliged to bring him home from institutional care for fear that he might be sent to detention centre. Their relationship, often histrionic, never straightforward, then becomes a quasi-love triangle when a shy neighbour with a dark past (Suzanne Clement, star of the director's 2012 Cannes-winning Laurence Anyways) enters the fray. With its fizzing energy, uproarious humour, stubborn hopefulness and terrific central performances, Mommy is another triumph for Dolan. Mommy, dir. Xavier Dolan, Canada 2014, 138 mins., French with English subtitles
