You've Got a Message!
The artist Bahar Oganer establishes a tale-like narrative with figures and depictions of nature which surround them in her first solo-show at Merkur including her most recent works. Providing an infinite background, depictions of nature move Oganer paintings to a fresh and indefinite ground. Communicating directly with the audience instead of taking an evasive glance, the colorful image of the female figure and the monochrome nature depictions create a sense of eternity. While the scenes the artist has chosen promise the audience an ambiguous excitement, they also reveal a narrative painterly discourse which combines the ordinary with supernatural within the same frame. Oganer coveys an imaginary yet clear message to us in 'You've Got a Message!'. This message Oganer's paintings transmits to us directly and without any reserve invites the audience to become part of the artist's fictional narrative.
