Two exhibitions

Videoworks by Seoungho Cho
April 9 - June 6

This spring the first solo exhibition by Seoungho Cho in Europe will be seen at the Netherlands Media Art Institute. In addition to a number of new video installations, a retrospective of his earlier work will be presented.
The works of Seoungho Cho are poetic video reflections. The sources for his works can be anything, such as a short video clip, music, landscapes, a line or verse of poetry. But also everyday images and objects from our ordinary environment. In his complex installations these concrete images, together with sound and text, merge into a dream-like collage.

**spring_alpha
social software system by Simon Yuill

The Scottish artist Simon Yuill developed the first phase of spring_alpha during his artist in residence from January 12th till April 12th 2004 at the Netherlands Media Art Institute. spring_alpha is a networked game in a simulation environment based on Chad McCail's drawing Spring and the series Evolution is Not Over Yet. spring_alpha explores, and critiques, parallels between the role of computer code in governing software systems and of legal systems in governing human societies.
