Lecture Series
Judith Barry will be contributing a lecture as part of the interdisciplinary lecture series entitled 6 to 4, organized by the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG). The artist was not only one of the first to acknowledge exhibition design as an artistic practice, but she has also reflected on its history in various writings of her own. In her lecture she takes a look at her own interdisciplinary work. Working in fields ranging from architecture, performance, video and film through to installation and sculpture, Judith Barry is among North America's most versatile of artists. Her writings on exhibition design belong to the cannon of curatorial theory. The lecture will be held in the English language. In recent semesters, the faculties of exhibition design and scenography, aesthetics and media philosophy as well as media art have been able to acquire noteworthy experts in their respective fields for lecture series in winter semesters. During the winter semester 2014/15, the faculty of Communication Design likewise joined; hence, this year's series bears the title 6 to 4: six lectures, four subjects. Each lecture begins at 6 p.m.
