Symposium
The symposium Rethinking Research Practices launches the new doctoral program in Art, Technology and Design. Rethinking Research Practices will comprise a series of conversations between the first candidates in the programme and their invited guests. Conversations will span a wide range of issues, united by pertinence for thinking and making across the categories of art, technology and design. The doctoral programme is a collaboration between Konstfack University College of Art, Craft and Design and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and the launch is in conjunction with Konstfack's spring exhibition. The programme offers advanced studies within an emerging research area shaped by dynamic encounters between artistic and scientific approaches. The call for applications to the program in 2014 drew a record number of applicants. The programme is premised on the need to rethink the relationship between the individual, society and the environment in order to create the means for a sustainable future development. The political, social, and philosophical imaginaries inherent to this visionary call constitute the backbone of the programme, where the practices of making combine with advanced epistemological and methodological perspectives in holistic and process-oriented investigations.
