Meet the Artists
Join us for an artist talk with Tamara Johnson and Eto Otitigbe, who will discuss the installations they have on view in the Sunroom Project Space and describe their artistic process. Otitigbe creates mixed-media sculptural forms in the Sunroom, which combine the man-made and the organic, using engineered, repurposed materials. His multi-step process results in a small series of relief panels and sculptures inspired by organic patterns and algorithms that reference natural mathematical phenomena. In the Sun Porch, Johnson installs a whimsical replica of the stone balustrade bordering Wave Hill's lower lawn. Her installation calls attention to the function of architecture to delineate space, shift pathways and frame viewpoints. Appearing to enter through the Sun Porch window, the posts of the balustrade seem to deflate and collapse as they lose their practical purpose when put on display in the gallery.
