...from the McClelland Collection
This exhibition, the fourth in a series of displays from the Collection of George and Maura McClelland, highlights the work of artists active in Northern Ireland during the middle of the last century. This includes artists such as Colin Middleton, William Scott, FE McWilliam, Daniel O'Neil and Gerard Dillon. All of these artists were well known to the collector when he acted as their agent during the difficult years from the 1950s through to the 1970s when the McClelland Galleries in Belfast were closed down due to the Troubles. Among the works shown publicly for the first time in this exhibition are the drawings for McWilliam's Women of Belfast series and paintings that came directly from the studios of Gerard Dillon and Daniel O'Neil.
The exhibition is curated by Catherine Marshall, Senior Curator: Head of Collection, IMMA.
An exhibition guide accompanies the exhibition.
