Smokin' Babes
Art @ Large is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by Brian Viveros.
"Wicked art," is how writer/filmmaker Clive Barker described Viveros' work.
Born and raised in California, Brian Viveros began drawing at the early age
of four and at age eleven started a long obsession . With no formal
training, he began to draw and learn from the masters in comics, fine art,
films and fantasy art. The turning point in Brian's career came in 1997 with
his participation in "Deep Inside The Art Of Porn" exhibition in Lausanne,
Switzerland at The Musee d'art Contemporain Pornographique, curated by Les
Barany, (H. R. Giger's agent), who introduced Brian's work to a wide
international audience.
Since then, Brian's work has been in numerous gallery shows and exhibitions.
Work has appeared in Secret Magazine, In the Flesh, Skin Two, Drawing Blood,
Darks Art Magazine, and Art Alternatives. His comic book works includes
Vesil I, II, III, Hardcore, Snuff, Psycho Hunter and the short story, The
Magdalena in Fetish Magazine.
Currently he employs the use of airbrush, and charcoal in his paintings on
paper. Known mostly for his smoking women and surrealist approach to the
female form, Viveros' tattoo'd women robots are prominently featured at this
years annual Woodstock Tattoo Festival, along with notables, H.R. Giger,
John John Jesse, David Hochbaum, Joe Coleman, Frank Kozik, et al.
