Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam

Expressionist prints and drawings from the Hamburger Kunsthalle. The show features prints and drawings by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and artists associated with Die Brucke such as Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Erich Heckel and Otto Muller. A central theme in this selection of around eighty prints and drawings, including a number of famous sheets, is the Expressionist depiction of the human form. La Scala, Milan s renowned opera house, has been a centre of innovative decor design since the eighteenth century. The emphasis in this show is the design and execution of operas set in exotic locations, such as Egypt (Aida), Japan (Madama Butterfly) and China (Turandot).

From Kirchner to Beckmann

Expressionist prints and drawings from the Hamburger Kunsthalle From Kirchner to Beckmann features prints and drawings by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and artists associated with Die Brcke such as Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Erich Heckel and Otto Mller. Works are also presented by Max Beckmann, Emil Nolde and Otto Dix. A central theme in this selection of around eighty prints and drawings, including a number of famous sheets, is the Expressionist depiction of the human form.

The show provides a representative overview of this important twentieth-century artistic movement. In collaboration with the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

La Scala The opera and the Orient, 1780 - 1930

La Scala, Milan s renowned opera house, has been a centre of innovative decor design since the eighteenth century. The emphasis in this show is the design and execution of operas set in exotic locations, such as Egypt (Aida), Japan (Madama Butterfly) and China (Turandot). In addition to decor designs, the exhibition features costumes and memorabilia from La Scala s celebrated history. In collaboration with the Museo Teatrale alla Scala and the Theater Instituut Nederland.
