This is MOT Control to planet Earth

Beam us up to planet MOT, our time on earth is up. Mission complete as the mothership reaches our solar system. People have been noticing certain members of MOT changing pallor, bloating in the facial regions or mumbling incoherently in an alien language. The humanising ray is wearing off and we’ve started to sculpt mountains in our mashed potato. There was a reason why we chose the gallery to be so high up, as we scanned the night sky for the twinkling lights and did you ever notice that the building was flat roofed. Tour of duty is up for MOTMAN 2, earth name Floyd Varey and MOTMAN 3, Mally Mallinson (an obvious alien assimilation of an earth name). Phase 1 is over and they are now free to return to planet MOT, to paint and sculpt under our seven suns or drink Grolschalgin in a place similar to your pub. We must prepare the gallery for their departure.

So artists of earth break out your supplies of silver foil, up-turn your egg boxes and stick a colander on your head it’s the end of the world as we know it. The chances of anything coming from MOT were a million to one they said…dum, dum, dum…tra la la, tra la la…dum dum dum A great ball of flame could be seen in the sky, it was heading towards England, towards London, towards Hackney, towards MOT…ooolaa…the light is so, so bright, goodbye Floyd, goodbye Mally, watch out for the anal probe.

MOT has invited some special guests to help celebrate the return of the MOTMEN, but you’ll have to come along to find out who has collaborated with the Alien Nation. Expect Close Encounter Mountain, dioramas, sci-fi signs, crop circles, alien videos and an abundance of empty washing up liquid bottles as MOT dispenses with curatorial decorum in exchange for something not dissimilar to the set of The Clangers. As the radiation levels reach critical point within the gallery this exhibition can only be viewed by looking through the window during our usual opening hours.

Chris Hammond will continue to lead MOT towards World domination with the launch of MOT phase 2 on February 26th 2005, watch this SPACE…
