Finally 18! Between tiredness and coming of age?
The Stuttgart Filmwinter celebrates an anniversary which normally would not bear any relevance for the development of a festival or institution, however for the Filmwinter’s organisers, Wand 5 e.V. , coming of age does play an important role. Thus much subjects – but not all – of the upcoming Filmwinter will revolve around getting older, becoming mature and growing up. Not only the Filmwinter is confronted with this subject, though, but Media Art as such, surrounding itself with the “aura†of the new and innovative. The question of changing generations and the loss of the bonus of youth will turn up in various screenings, discussion panels as well as the graphic image.
As a varied festival for Experimental Film, Video and Media Art the Filmwinter will present events which give insight in the tendencies of film and media Culture.
Competitons in the field of film/video, new media, and media-based installations
The centre of the festival consists of different competitions for short film and video, media installations as well as on- and off-line media (websites, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, software). Two jury groups are going to reward the winners – the total sum for all prizes comprises of 12,500.- Euros.
