The Liquid Experiments. Echezabal describes his new body of work as experiments in ''stimulating serotonin''. The Liquid Experiments

McCaig-Welles Gallery and C3 Agency are pleased to present an exhibition of work by Ken Echezabal. "Good art is too damn expensive these days," according to Echezabal. Therefore, the artist and McCaig-Welles Gallery are thrilled to offer patrons an opportunity to own an original work from a respected artist at accessible rates.

There will be over 200 works shown, with nearly half the collection priced at under $200. Echezabal describes his new body of work as experiments in "stimulating serotonin." Using an inventive painting technique, slowed-down wavelike images are poured onto the canvas. The subjects range from a mother holding her child in the middle of a nuclear blast to vibrating cartoon characters in a sugar rush of candy colors. Each painting is intended to stimulate the viewer's brain chemistry, and therefore change the viewer's mood.

Ken Echezabal, was born in Tampa's Ybor City, and raised in western Tampa's Little Havana community. He began painting murals and stage backdrops for the 1980's Ybor nightclubs. He opened "Dog Eat Dog studio" in Ybor City in 1988, inspired by Keith Harring's "Pop Shop" and Warhol's "Factory." After years of commission work, and academic training, Ken now focuses on a personal painting style fusing classical with psychedelic tribal. His current influences are trance, op, and ambient painters such as Fred Tomaselli and Gerhard Richter.
