Group exhibition - Triumvirate #1: Meg Cranston, Kristi Lippire and Matt Wardell
Project Room: Sonik Mercury
The first exhibition in Raid's TRIUMVIRATE series, featuring works by Meg Cranston, Kristi Lippire and Matt Wardell. To create the series Raid invites one artist to participate in the project. That artist then invites a second, together the pair selects a third, and the trio then generates an exhibition in conversation with one another.
Because the series is intended to construct a framework for creative exchange, "in conversation" may mean that the artists actively collaborate, that they explore similar aesthetic and theoretical terrain, or simply that they respect and admire each others diverse practices. For the same reason the resulting exhibitions may feature collaborative, complementary or individual projects, but the results are always rich and unexpected.
Sonik Mercury in Project Room
These structures are biomorphic fabric environments. Like human bodies, they are containers, their walls taut and thin as skin, embodying the physics of tension. They create a free flowing embryonic environment - the physical and psychological manifestation of an embryonic womb, whose last stages can be found in the center of the room, resulting in the immaculate conception.
Opening reception: Saturday February 5, 7-10pm
