A screening and an artist talk
A screening and an artist talk
Moderated by Anselm Franke
Recently a guest of the DAAD in Berlin, Anri Sala has gained worldwide recognition
with a number of film and video works. His earlier narrative films are poetic
portrayals of multi-layered personal stories, reflecting larger social and
political contexts. In his more recent video work, Sala concentrates on situations
and fragments of everyday life; these have a unique and ambiguous metaphorical
quality.
Anri Sala, born 1974 in Tirana, Albania has taken part in international Solo and
Group Exhibitions among others in Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, Castello die Rivoli,
Turin, P.S.1/MoMA, New York, the Albanian Pavillion of the Venice Biennale 1999 and
this spring at DAAD Gallery in Berlin. He has won various art prices, among others
the 2001 Young Artist Price, Biennale Venedig.
