Metzner's signature photographic style has positioned her as a contemporary master in the worlds of fine art, fashion, portraiture, still life and landscape photography. As one of only ten American photographers with whom the renowned Fresson family is willing to work, Metzner's unique eye coupled with the Fresson Quadrichrome process, transcends the image.
Luminous, sensual, almost like paintings in their suppleness of form and color, Metzner's most recent flower and landscape photographs will be featured.
Metzner's career spans a remarkable range since she entered the advertising world in 1961. Her commercial work has been commissioned by Vanity Fair, Vogue, Rolling Stone, Condé Nast Traveler, and such clients as Bergdorf Goodman, Valentino, Ralph Lauren and Fendi, for which she won the Fragrance Foundation Recognition Award. In addition, she has worked on special assignment for films including Wild at Heart. She has directed television commercials and produced and directed a short film on Man Ray.
She is the recipient of many awards such as the 1999 Pratt Institute Herschel Levit Award, among others, and has exhibited extensively in major galleries around the world. Her fine art photographs are included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The International Center for Photography, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and many others, as well as numerous private collections.
A concurrent exhibition of Metzner's NYC Platinum prints will be on view at the Paul Kopeikin Gallery, 138 N. La Brea Avenue.
