Solo exhibition
Alexander Bühler has sometimes described his work as “boundary less “, with “no rules†attached. This is often reflected in the mixture and diversity of his materials used to create a piece of work.
For this show he will present a collection of new works, including paintings, objects and drawings.
Bühler’s latest work touches on fragments of architecture, its structures and geometry search for a dialogue between form, colour and lines. Object trouvé, cuttings from magazines, toys, personal photographs build part of the source material.
As well as small still life’s arranged and composed in the studio create ground for investigations and inspiration.
Work in process, create conditions or metamorphoses, which trigger a dialogue for the next work. Failure, suggesting unsolvable problems are not seen as obstacles, they rather form a new dialogue and puzzles to be solved. At times when a work arrives at a dead end it can be the starting point for the next one.
In the painting “ A cube†the artist depicts a box like shape resting on a table. One is struck by the paradox of the simplicity and potential of the image. A yellow roof like shape may open the box, transform the cube altogether.
