Thursday 18 - from 19.00 to 21.00:
"Silent Night".
Kevin Brownlow and Patrick Stanbury, Directors of Photoplay Productions will discuss the restorations carried out on silent films over the past decade. Rare silent films from Kevin's own archive including THE WIND, NAPOLEON and THE CHESS PLAYER will be screened, making it possible for a new generation to see and appreciate these films.
Tuesday 23 - from 20.00 to 21.00:
"A Tribute to Desmond Wilcox".
On July 19th Desmond Wilcox recorded a Masterclass for a BBC television training exercise. In this Masterclass he discussed his philosophy of documentary making and answered questions from young producers on all aspects of the business from writing the commentary to dealing with commissioning editiors to the future of television.
Wednesday 24 - from 19.00 to 21.00:
"Funding the Feature: Diversity and New Opportunities in Film".
The last year has seen the launch of two initiatives aimed at brining new, along with black and Asian Talent, to the large screen. But do film-makers' expectations match the requirements of industry backers? What are the essentials required to secure public or commercial backing? These issues and more will be discussed by a panel including Tim Bevan of Working Title Films, actor and screenwriter Lennie James, writer and director Shakila Maan, Michael Ryan of IAC Film Distribution, Robert Jones of the Film Council's New Cinema Fund and Will Turner from Sky Pictures.
