International Contemporary Art Exposition
ArtIstanbul International Contemporary Art Exposition which was held in 2002 for the first time in order to make Istanbul the most important center of art of the Middle East and the Balkan countries is being organised for the fourth time this year to take another step towards its aim.
ArtIstanbul 2002 which was organised in 2002 with the theme of "Empathy" between September 24th and 28th 2002 in the 8.000 sqm Rumeli Hall of Lutfi Kirdar International Convention and Exhibition Center was supported by a total of 76 local and foreign galleries and 5 non-governmental organisations. Supported by several side activities, ArtIstanbul 2002 invited speakers from abroad for the activities and was the starting point of big organisations where a tradition was made out of the award for Support to Art and of Young Artists Painting Competition that aims to introduce new talents.
Stretching its target and eliminating all boundaries in 2003, ArtIstanbul 2003 used the main theme of "Beyond Boundaries" to gather the art lovers from all over the world under the same roof once again between September 23rd and 28th 2003. ArtIstanbul was realised in 2003 with the support of 80 Galleries, 4 non-govermental organisations and the media giants in Turkey. With the Young Artists Painting Competition and the award for Support to Art that ArtIstanbul is proud to have traditionalised, there was a premium performance of determining the art agenda of 2003.
In 2004, ArtIstanbul 2004 was prepared as the gathering of the art lovers with the main theme of “For Love and Peace" and organised between December 08th and 12th 2004 in the Rumeli Hall of Lutfi Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Center with the support of 72 local and foreign galleries, 1 non-governmental organisation and press companies that recognize the value of art. While “Young Artists Painting Competition" and “Young Art Critic Competition" as well as the “ArtIstanbul 2004 Support to Art Award" were performed, an exhibition titled “For Love and Peace" was made with the participation of 13 contemporary Turkish artists whose pieces of artwork had not been displayed in the participating galleries.
The organisations of ArtIstanbul 2002, ArtIstanbul 2003 and ArtIstanbul 2004 "International Contemporary Art Exposition" were proofs that we still have a long way to go but that we have been progressing in the right track, taking the right steps. With the courage and excitement of being on the right track, we have started working for a more modern, more innovative and more universal art exposition, ArtIstanbul 2005.
ArtIstanbul 2005 "International Contemporary Art Exposition" will be opening its doors once again to thousands of local and foreign art lovers between December 07th and 11th 2005 in the Rumeli Hall of Lutfi Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Center.
As people who have experienced the joy and the privilege of being involved with art, serving art and addressing the second personality that lives in everybody but cannot be easily expressed because of daily problems, we are inviting you to join us for hosting ArtIstanbul 2005 "International Contemporary Art Exposition". Hoping to take the art and the artists to the point where they deserve to be with ArtIstanbul 2005...
