Zaha Hadid
Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg's program. "Let's Entertain": the exhibition is devoted to the ubiquitous theme of the fun society and its effects on the work of contemporary artists. "Zaha Hadid": she has explored the boundaries of architecture in a number of competition designs that always retain an exploratory character. "Doug Aitken": Aitken carries out archaeological studies in a media landscape of the absolute present. In the process he uses film, video, sound, and architecture to create visual and spatial ensembles...
Zaha Hadid
Lounge Wolfsburg
From 17 March 2001
For this exhibition the Iraqi-born architect Zaha Hadid will remodel the gallery spaces
at the front of the Museum, facing the plaza, as a Lounge. The upper part of the space
will contain a presentation of her designs in the form of models, drawings and computer
animations. Pride of place will be given to the Science Center that is due to be built
in Wolfsburg in the next few years, and to other museum projects. The lower part of the
space will offer food and drink, listening stations, and reading and video corners. The
Lounge will be in regular use for public readings, DJ nights, lectures, discussions and
education programmes.
This exhibition is a co-production of the City of Wolfsburg and the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg
in cooperation with VOLKSWAGEN.

Let's Entertain : Life's Guilty Pleasures
17 March 2001 - 15 July 2001
In this exhibition, originated by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, artists including
Maurizio Cattelan, Rineke Dijkstra, Stan Douglas, Peter Friedl, Andreas Gursky, Jeff
Koons, and Piotr Uklanski engage with the phenomenon of the "fun society". Movies,
advertising, television, and comics become the artist's raw material, which is scrutinized
critically but used affirmatively.
This multidisciplinary exhibition includes sculptures, paintings, video works,
spatial installations, photographs and fashion, and plays games with the traditional
behaviour patterns of museum visitors: a dance floor encourages them to dance, gaming
tables are available, and there are sculptures that can be worn. They should go carefully, however; what seems like pure amusement is never without its darker side.
