Italian Arte all'Arte

Cultural Promotion Event

In order to improve Chinese-Italian exchanges and collaborations in cultural, environmental and tourist fields, also on the occasion of Italian Cultural Year in China, Center of International Cultural Exchange (CICE) is glad with Arts Association Continua, Italian Tuscany Region (APET) and Italian Embassy in Beijing to co-organize Italian Arte all’Arte Cultural Promotion Event, which will be held in National Art Museum of China at 18:30-23:00 on September 26 2006.

With the supports of Italian Tuscany Region, Association Continua has long been committed to an artistic creative project since 2000 ---“Arte all’Arte". Based on the concept of “Globalocal", the project each year selectively invites representative contemporary artists from the world to Italian cultural and historical center and birthplace--Tuscany Region and Siena Province, to create artworks emerging local artistic heritage and natural environment, in the theme of Nature, Art and Technology, with the precondition of environmental protection. Among these artists are famous overseas Chinese artists Cai Guoqiang and artists Jennifer Ma. There have been 27 permanent art installations left by the project in the region. The project is also promoting a charity event called “art X wine = water", which collects money by auction of special Italian wine packages designed by famous artists, invited by the Director of Tate Modern Vicente Todoli', to help water shortage areas in the world including China.

The event on Sep 26 will include 3 parts:

First, the opening addresses by Italian and Chinese officials and guests. Among them are from President CLAUDIO MARTINI of Tuscany Region. And officials from Chinese Ministry of Culture, Foreign affairs, Bureau of National Tourism and Environmental Protection will be present.

Second, the project promotion conference. It will show a video concerning “Arte all’Arte". Mr. Cai Guoqiang and Jennifer Ma will introduce the “art X wine = water" event and it will prepare the committee for the event.

Third, reception dinner in the courtyard. Chef Antonello Colonna is invited to propose the original Italian food menu for the banquet with all materials transported from Italian and prepared in the event venue that evening. There will also be a small scaled event exhibition on the spot.
