New Trans-Species Fantasy

Paintings, Sculptures, & Video Group Show

Five young artists from Paris and New York are gathered around the reflections on “cult of the body" and “the paradox of individual isolation in the collective fever" in this ever-escalating hyper-media & consumption society.

“These excess factors of life force....are in fact the most dangerous factors of ruination. Hence relieving the blockage was always the object of a feverish pursuit. Ancient societies found relief in festivals; some erected admirable monuments that had no useful purpose." (Georges Bataille “the accursed share" 1949)

Every attempt has been done to avoid destruction. Where is the new promise of “feeling-good" (cf. Aldous Huxley)? As indicated by the increasing interest in the phenomena of “extreme makeover", it seems that “appearance" is becoming the perfect vehicle for fulfilling such a promise.

Suddenly, and in a paradoxical way, human beings are being aware of their animalistic nature. There is every variety of such behaviour: hybridizing, mutation, mimesis, and travesty… Reduced to nudity in their natural state, humans are like test rats in a laboratory. Indeed, behind the apparent freedom, everywhere we go, we are being watched. Surveillance is everywhere. There is also the oppressive speed of change in the environment where we live. How can one be true to oneself and assume its identity?

Abandoned and lost in space, life of human beings is waiting for Nature’s awesome power, the moment of enlightenment when it intercedes with nature’s mysterious power were we will see the possibility of what Nature can do.

In the gallery, there are narrative paintings (Biasini b.1984 Paris, Castaignet b. 1971 Paris), drawings (Porcella b. CA), an animation video (Biasini) as well as fantastic and strange sculptures (Garzoni b. 1981 France, White b. 1984 NYC) to bring the audiences beyond the gate of imaginary and fable of post-modern society.
