Andres Laracuente’s second Paris show at Galerie Yukiko Kawase "The Eyes Have No Cash" features a group of closely related works which focus on topics of obsessive desires, anxiety, hidden addiction, and the instability of “models” in a world of physical tension. For this exhibition Laracuente reveals a series of metaphors selecting, manipulating, and cross pollinating the linguistic tropes of the “model”.

A sculptural series of “Model Selections”, i.e. mobile phones, a digital camera with armature- all emptied of electronic circuits and stuffed with clay, evoking the existential dramas of contemporary mankind. Also featured is “Extended Vibration (Intercourse)”, a kinetic sculpture: two mobile phones continuously vibrating in emptiness.

The four large wall works of the "Hand Modeling" series are comprised of supernatural hands photographed in film, reaching for and modeling the images of scanned objects: distinct-use material wipes and interior mobile phone key pad components. The feet are indeed present in “Ford Model”, a clay sculpture of the underside of single high heel and its shadow rendering.

These will be joined with “Dr Popper”, a voyeuristic video in which the good-humored and obliging artist is seen following the directives of an off-screen balloon-popping fetishist he had located on Craigslist, an open forum website.

Andres Laracuente, (b. 1982, San Antonio,Texas) is a New York based artist working primarily with moving image, performance, sculpture and photography. He has presented works internationally at venues including P.S.1 MoMa in New York, Autocenter in Berlin, Projet Midi in Brussels, the National Gallery of Arts in Albania, and Brown Gallery in London. An advocate of the strange, he continues to "drop in" on unexpected places and spaces. Laracuente is graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2006 with Bachelor of Fine Arts.
