In the exhibition 'The Stability of Truth' the works are disposed towards a devotion
to things as they are, a straightforwardness that is demonstrated when corroborated
by the experience of having lived in a place or society that prides itself more on
its vigilance and realism and censures any flourish, rhetoric or extravagance of
aspiration. Having to live in a situation of ongoing political upheaval and public
expectation is addressed in the exhibition 'The Stability of Truth'. Without needing
to be theoretically instructed, consciousness quickly realizes that it is the site
of variously contending discourses. Discourses in which one has to arbitrate among
promptings that range from the ethical, aesthetical, moral, political, skeptical and
cultural, which when taken all together are quite simply impossible. As a defiant
statement of art's ability for telling the truth but telling it slant, these artists
address a deeper need that is not only pleasurably right and compellingly wise but
is at times a retuning of the world itself.
