Desfilada d'obsessions
The Joan Miró Foundation was officially
inaugurated on 18 June 1976 with the exhibition
"Joan Miró. Paintings, sculptures and drawings
from the Foundation’s collections", the purpose of
which was to show "the entire evolution of Miró’s
work, from his Catalan roots […], via his role at the
forefront of the Surrealist movement, the creation
and development of one of the most highly
personal artistic languages in the art of our century,
to his influence on art today", in the words of
Francesc Vicens, the Director of the Foundation at
the time.
Twenty-five years later, the Foundation will once
more be presenting another exhibition of Miró’s
work, again with items from its own collections.
The curators will be Carme Escudero and Teresa
Montaner, conservators at the Joan Miró
Foundation.
The aim this time will be to analyse the most
frequently recurring symbols in the artist’s oeuvre
and to decipher his artistic language.
