Angel Orensanz, a bronze forest

Archivio di Stato Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza, Roma

comunicato stampa

The Ministry for Resources and Cultural Activity of Italy presents sculptor Angel Orensanz at the Complesso Monumental Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza in Rome.

Next Monday March 27 will be inaugurated at the historic monument, Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza in Rome an exhibition of a hundred bronze pieces of Angel Orenanz based on the concept of the forest, a recurrent theme in his work. The pieces are three meters high and are located in a wide area of the 17th century building of Francesco Borromini in the heart of Rome, between Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. The central theme of these pieces is their multiplicity of elements and their convergence above the public. The sense of togetherness becomes a visual challenge.

Dr. Salvatore Italia, General Director for the Ministry of Cultural resources and the Cultural Activity will host the opening reception for a large contingent of members of the arts community, the media and the American and Spanish communities in Rome. This exhibition is part of the national events of the II Settimana della Cultura (2nd Culture Week) in Italy. The exhibition will be open to the public from March 27 to April 16th.

In combination with the exhibition at the Borromini landmark building, Palladio Gallery will open a show on Tuesday March 28 of paintings, engravings, drawings and ceramics of Angel Orensanz that will remain till next April 28th. The paintings, engravings and terracottas develop narratives of faces that fade into clouds and mountain ranges that fuse into human anatomic forms.

These exhibitions will be accompanied by a publication that include texts on the work of Orensanz by Professor Salvatore Italia, and a bibliography.
