The collective installations of Maurice Benayoun emerge from the desire to explore and display the impact of new
forms of communication on artistic creation. The artist imagines a means of gathering in one instant the glances of a
multitude of visitors an artistic event: Art Impact is a symbiotic system that produces a new art work when all these
looks confront the displayed works and their surroundings.
In order to do this, the multimedia explorer has invented an installation where a visitor in Kiasma with the help of
virtual reality glasses, or on the Internet, visits fifteen venues of the exhibition La Beauté en Avignon scattered
about Avignon. The journey of the look at the pictures, as well as all the elements that are present, is projected
onto a big screen. The track of this look is added to those of preceding visitors. A collective retina, the screen’s
surface, functions as a dynamic memory where individual visual routes fuse. [..]
