A Look at Recent Events in the Lives of Malian Antiquities. Curator Kristina Van Dyke challenges to examine terra cotta sculptures from the 12th-15th centuries and the political and ethical issues arising when collecting and studying African art, especially when these works, obtained through the art market as opposed to archaeological excavation, are thought of as tainted goods.
