Quest'anno per la prima volta i Berner Tanztagen, storico festival internazionale di danza giunto alla sua ventesima edizione, ospita al suo interno Classe de danse, mostra d’arte contemporanea promossa insieme da PROGR e GALERIE MADONNA#FUST.

Classe de danse (1871-1874) è il titolo di uno dei quadri più famosi di Edgar Degas, una veduta di un corpo di ballo durante una lezione. Il segno di una convergenza storica tra danza e arte sin dalle origini della modernità. Allo stesso tempo il titolo è anche un riferimento al PROGR, alla struttura e al carattere del suo spazio espositivo: edificio scolastico nel XIX secolo e ancora oggi un luogo di incontro e formazione.
La mostra “Classe de danse” a cura di Alessio Fransoni e Ilari Valbonesi presenta i lavori di Nevin Aladag, Andrea Bowers, Elvira Hufschmid, Tushar Joag, Sonia Khurana, Jérôme Leuba, Lynne Marsh , Nira Pereg e Lars Siltberg. La danza diviene uno spazio di confine dove le relazioni tra soggetto e ambiente circostante vengono ridefinite tramite il movimento. Il corpo stesso diventa una frontiera : rete di relazioni sociali e politiche, messa in relazione etica. Si recupera in tal modo l’etimologia di “classe“ come parola derivata dal latino “calo“ che significa “convocare“. CLASSE DE DANSE diviene così il movimento di raccordo di un chiamare a raccolta.

This year, for the first time, the 20 th edition of the international dance festival BERNER TANZTAGE will be hosting a contemporary art show entitled ''Classe de Danse'' promoted by Progr and Galerie MADONNA#FUST.

The opening of the Classe de Dance Exhibition will take place on Thursday, 31th May 2007 - 19 h. at the PROGR _ Zentrum für Kulturproduktion, Bern. ''La classe de danse'' (1871-1874) is the title one of the most famous paintings of Edgar Degas; a scene of a group of dancers during a lesson. It represents an historical convergence between Dance and Art going back to the origins of modernity. At the same time Class the dance is also reference to PROGR; a 19th century school house which is to this day a place of encounter and learning.

The exhibition, which will run until Saturday, 30th June 2007, will feature works of the artists, namely Nevin Aladag, Andrea Bowers, Elvira Hufschmid, Tushar Joag, Sonia Khurana, Jérôme Leuba, Lynne Marsh , Nira Pereg and Lars Siltberg, whose works reinvent dance as a special situation in which the relations between the subject and its surroundings become redefined through movement. The body itself becomes a movable border, a kind of lace of social and political relations. Class de Danse is the movement of gathering together.
