Clapham Art Gallery is pleased to continue representing Francesca after
sharing a very successful year with her following her debut one-person
show last year.
Francesca is known for her highly distinctive semi-abstract landscapes
that remind one of some burning, unknowable vista. Made with oil on
board they are heavy and textured, depending on a soulful atmosphere
created through a restricted palette of deep reds and scorched yellows.
They are both intense and spectacular.
Tosetti's new work is more subtle in its use of colour, employing golden and earthy browns to render elusive landscapes and occasional figurative forms. In these pieces ethereal figures vie with paint and landscape as they struggle to emerge from the surface. There is a sense of other-worldliness as the artist attempts to capture hidden mysteries.
Figures and landscape become one and appear from each other but this is
always underpinned by an emphasis on paint and process. It is the
movement and combination of materials that support the journey into an
inferred, elusive representation.
