The aim of Wild Gliders is to animate a discussion on the role of nature in a fabricated world in the grips of creeping urbanisation. The exhibition shows the role of nature in our society as seen through the eyes of a number of young artists who are attempting to break through the conditioned pattern of seeing. They dissect flowers, isolate animals from their normal context and demonstrate that artificial and original nature can flow together quite seamlessly.
The aim of Wild Gliders is to animate a
discussion on the role of nature in a
fabricated world in the grips of creeping
urbanisation. The exhibition shows the role
of nature in our society as seen through the
eyes of a number of young artists who are
attempting to break through the conditioned
pattern of seeing. They dissect flowers,

nature can flow together quite seamlessly.
Despite the diversity of their approaches,
the artists of Wild Gliders are all oriented
towards the positive aspects of a 'new'
nature. They focus our attention on nature
as an ingenious construction that can be
copied and imitated. It is this merging of
artificial and 'original' nature that can give
rise to new possibilities.
Wild Gliders hopes to promote the cultural
exchange between Amsterdam and
Dresden. The exhibition is a joint project
between CCD Produkties Foundation
(Amsterdam) and Scharfenberg
Castle(Dresden). The exhibition plans to
travel to the new cultural centre in
Scharfenberg Castle near Dresden in the
spring of 2002, where it will be shown in a
new form.
