Contemporary Art Fair

Artists of exhibiting galleries will be invited by the Executive Committee to shape the entire thematic exhibition with their works and corresponding academic topics in displaying the academic orientation of the exhibition.

"Art Beijing" is an important contemporary art fair in Asia and integrates Asian art resources. Many artists from different galleries will appear at the same exhibition showcasing the same theme, which only the contemporary art fair can organize besides exclusive academic exhibition. This fair, relying on its own resources, is creating new possibilities for festivals to directly influence development of Chinese contemporary art. With the influence of the fair, Chinese contemporary art can allow both commercial and academic planners to expand their previous conventions and see from a broader perspective.

"Art Un-Forbidden" continues to manifest the thematic exhibition. Contemporary art has developed a history of successive disconnects with conventional aesthetic and cultural taste and the desire to create something completely different. Therefore, the theme "Art Un-Forbidden" seems like the perpetual origin of contemporary art. Unlike other academic exhibitions, works featured in Art Beijing still emphasize delicacy and verisimilitude in creation and stresses regression of the contemporary art from "conception" to "visual sense". Directly perceived from the senses, the works are closer to the visual experience provided by the current popular and public culture at the moment and feature more colors of individualization and humanism. The executive committee hopes the fair will not only forecast the art future in academia but also explore new growth of the Chinese contemporary art market, to give collection and investment direction.

The theme of Art Beijing 2007 is still "Art Un-Forbidden", which best emphasizes the main content of contemporary art and further involves the most experimental and most leading-edge art creations Different from the "pure academic exhibition" like "Art Beijing 2006", this exhibition will present opportunities for deeper relationships with galleries and artists. The academic committee will invite the artists from important galleries for different lecture topics and arrange artists and their works depending on attraction of academy, enabling the works to inhabit their own niche in the academic field. The thematic exhibition of Art Beijing 2007 can achieve the purposes of promoting artists and popularizing the brands of the galleries in the commercial field. From art exhibitions, one can take a peek at the future artistic trends of Asia.
