After completing his studies at the School of Architecture and City Planning of the University of Manchester in 1961, he received a scholarship from Yale University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Architecture. Foster's most recent projects include the Great Court of the British Museum, London; the new Millennium Bridge in London and the offices of the Gerling Insurance Group on Friesenplatz in Cologne (1995-2001).

Norman Foster was born in Manchester in 1935. After completing
his studies at the School of Architecture and City Planning of the
University of Manchester in 1961, he received a scholarship from
Yale University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Architecture.
In 1963, he founded Team 4 together with Richard Rogers. Foster
Associates was founded in 1967 and later renamed Foster and
Partners. Since its founding, the firm has been awarded over 220
prizes and honorable mentions, and has won 50 national and
international competitions.
In 1983, Norman Foster received the Royal Gold Medal for
Architecture from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA); in
1991 he was presented with the Gold Medal of the American
Institute of Architects (AIA). The French Ministry of Culture named
him Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in 1994. He was
knighted in 1990 and appointed to the Order of Merit in 1997. In
1999, Foster became the 21st recipient of the Pritzker Prize for
Architecture, and in the same year, he was honored with a Life
Peerage and awarded the title Lord Foster of Thames Bank.

d'Art, Nimes (1993); Commerzbank Central Administration, Frankfurt
am Main (1997); American Air Museum, Duxford (1997); Chek Lap
Kok International Airport, Hong Kong (1998); renovation of the
Reichstag, German Parliament building, Berlin (1995-99).
