The Jack Hanley Gallery, Los Angeles, is pleased to present a solo show of the work of Simon Evans titled Humble Junkatarian Seeking White Frame. The exhibit will include 13 mixed media works on paper.
Simon Evans creates diagrams and maps charting his exploration of self. Evans’ journey is marked with witty observations and personal statements. Everyday materials, such as white-out, ball point pen and Scotch tape are used to create eloquent surfaces interlaced with text and imagery. Evans’ thoughts are archived in an illustrated taxonomy full of word play and literary references.
Evans’ work has most recently been featured in solo exhibits at Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco; White Columns, New York, and the Aspen Art Museum. Evans has been included in group exhibitions at the Tate Modern, London; James Cohan Gallery, New York; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Andrew Kreps Gallery, New York; Store Gallery, London, and the 27th Sao Paulo Biennial. Evans lives and works in Berlin.
