A Choreographed Exhibition
The project curated by Mathieu Copeland “A Choreographed Exhibition”,
is composed only of movements in space and time. Three dancers from
the Stadttheater’s Tanzkompanie will perform a succession of
rehearsed moves and gestures during the duration of over a month.
This long-term performance is a unique collaboration, which consists
of works by Jonah Bokaer, Philipp Egli, Karl Holmqvist, Jennifer
Lacey, Roman Ondak, Nichael Parsons, Michael Portnoy & Fia Backström
and will be realised by the Stadttheater St. Gallen. This
collaborative work unites contemporary visual art and dance and
challenges the customary idea of an exhibition and of displayed art
objects as such. Not the spatial set-up but rather the temporal
positioning of the individual pieces thus emerges as the leading
exhibition concept.
Eine choreographierte Ausstellung is supported by Ars Rhenia
Stiftung, British Council and Arnold Billwiler Stiftung, St. Gallen
and the Swedish Embassy, Berne. It is a co-production with the Centre
d'art contemporain La Ferme du Buisson, Marne-la Valle (F), and
realised by the Stadttheater St. Gallen.
Performing Times: Wed – Fri 2 – 6 pm, Sat/Sun 1 – 5 pm

Sonja Feldmeier
Simultaneously the Kunst Halle presents in the solo show INHALE
EXHALE by Sonja Feldmeier three new installative audio and video
pieces respectively. These are all circling around questions of
identities, role models and communicating processes. Whether the
Basel based artist Sonja Feldmeier alludes to Western projections
about Islamic women, rock stars or the American entertainer Frank
Sinatra, the clichés she alludes to, reveal their own brittleness,
yet in so doing also accentuate precisely their very cultural impact.
In her renegotiating and undermining these stereotypes, the bracing
critical power of Sony Feldmeier’s work becomes manifest.
Opening Times: Tue – Fri 12 am – 6 pm, Sat/Sun 11 am – 5 pm
