Reykjavik Art Museum, Reykjavik

D7. The artist fascination with the real and fictional is transparent in his 'sci-fi' looking sculptures that reflect his exceptional humor sternly but compassionately.

comunicato stampa

The sculpture and installations of Ingirafn Steinarsson inspect human behaviors and the order of things in their natural surroundings. He engineers his ideas and executes his works in a methodical manner to address social and human psychological conditions that are often inaccessible to scientific or quantified studies. Steinarsson’s fascination with the real and fictional is transparent in his “sci-fi” looking sculptures that reflect his exceptional humor sternly but compassionately.

Ingirafn Steinarsson (b. 1973) graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from Malmö Art Academy, Sweden in 2005, after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria in 2003, and The Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts, Iceland from 1996 to 1999. He has been exhibiting in group and solo exhibitions in Iceland since 1998, and his works were also featured in exhibitions in various cities in Europe and USA.
