A certain, je ne sais quoi
The CCS project room is presenting three successive monographic exhibitions from
young Swiss artists. This is the first personal exhibition in an institution in
France for all three of them.
Lukas Wassmann (*1980) has retained a certain strictness in his photographic
compositions that comes from his first profession as a carpenter. Working as
assistant with a number of renowned photographers in Milan, Zurich and New York led
him to study photography at the Berlin FAS and later at the HGKZ in Zurich. In 2007,
he has been in residence at la Cité des Arts internationale in Paris, while at the
same time pursuing an exciting career in the world of fashion (prizewinner at the
International Fashion and Photography Festival in Hyères and work for Bernhard
Willhelm) and such magazines as Another magazine, 032C, Nuke or ID.
His photographs
are two-sided and combine a fresh unpretentiousness in his portraits (Young girl and
pony, hats and matches, comical nude self portraits) and a black and more
introverted humour in his fishing scenes (his second passion) and Nordic landscapes.
