Since the early 1990s, Jose Damasceno (Rio de Janeiro, 1968), a Brazilian artist well-known on the current international scene, has been exhibiting work in institutions as important as the Museum of Contemporary Art , Chicago , Palais de Tokyo, Paris and the Museu da Arte Moderna, São Paulo , as well as at the Venice , São Paulo and Sydney Biennales.

Heir to the legacy that Helium Oiticica and Lygia Clark left to Brazilian art in the 1960s, Damasceno combines that sensorial and interactive poetics with a personal universe in which allusions to surrealism or humour are frequent.
