An exhibition of works from the collection of MCA San Diego offering a unique insight into diverse West Coast contemporary art practices over the last four decades. Southern Exposure include Robert Irwin, Ed Ruscha, John Baldessari, Bill Viola and Barbara Kruger. Works address a range of issues shaping our world from the 1960s to the present day, from the anti-war movement to social and feminist debates, to the role of the media and advertising in everyday life. The MCA San Diego and MCA Sydney have collaborated to present two unique exhibitions showcasing the collections of these leading contemporary art institutions.
The MCA Sydney presents Southern Exposure, an exhibition of works from the collection of MCA San Diego offering a unique insight into diverse West Coast contemporary art practices over the last four decades.
A second exhibition, Contemporary Australian Video will be presented at MCA San Diego, featuring film and video works by young and established contemporary Australian artists acquired by MCA Sydney over the past five years.
