Project nomadSPACE is a travelling gallery, which focuses on presenting contemporary art in public spaces through the innovative approach – exhibitions in truck car.
Its main mission is easy accessibility and availability of contemporary art, to attract new public for art, to develop international communication in the cultural field and bring forth a new form of presenting art to life. nomadSPACE will travel around European countries and introduce the art from “closed“ galleries to public on the squares and streets in order to actively approach and connect people of this region by means of art.
situation:
Last years many of the European countries have experienced important changes and development which influences the public. This situation when people need to acclimatize themselves to new social and political situation and cope with various (financial, political, etc.) problems along with aggressive attack of commercialization, globalization and consumerism necessarily diminishes their interest in culture and art. We believe that institutional criticism from nineties is very much actual and galleries should reflect upon social situation and keep adapting their strategies of promoting the art and culture.
nomadSPACE emerged first of all as an answer to the need for bringing art closer to public. We want to move our activities out to the streets were we can attract different types of audience: from individuals who are not acquainted with the most up-to-date trends in art to people who have active interest but for different reasons do not visit the “traditional“ gallery.
nomadSPACE is international project which focus on presenting the contemporary art in public spaces in an easily accessible manner - in a rebuilded truck car. The cargo space of a smaller truck car grants mobility and flexibility to art. It can travel around and present artists and promote cultural exchange within the region. This way art can be transported to the furthermost distances, spread to the wider audience, attract spontaneous attention of incidental passers-by.
This idea is not entirely new, we are inspired by our partner English art group Truck art, but we are adapting the content for the network of Europe, which have similar history and vital cultural connections and whose systematic cooperation we would like to empower. The curatorial and artistic cooperation on the project will create the network which will be closely tied with other artistic medias and events, where nomadSPACE will take part.
